ACCSES, The Voice of Disability Service Providers

WELCOME

John D. Kemp

Welcome to ACCSES (formerly the American Congress of Community Supports and Employment Services). If you are a first time visitor, thank you for taking the time to navigate our site and learn more about us and our mission; and if you are an ACCSES member, welcome to your resource center, where we endeavor to keep you abreast of the issues affecting disability service providers on the public policy front, and much more!

ACCSES is a network of more than 80 organizations across this country with similar goals and purposes, providing a strong unified presence in Washington, D.C. Through this partnership, disability service providers are afforded a strong and experienced federal public policy voice, great opportunities to build meaningful relationships with policy-makers and up-to-date information to leverage our collective effort to enhance the quality and types of services benefitting people with disabilities.

On July 1, 2007, ACCSES and the Disability Service Providers of America (DSPA) joined together to further strengthen, through focused and targeted national policies and legislation, the effectiveness of direct service provider organizations; thereby promoting and enhancing education, employment opportunities and independent living of individuals with disabilities.

As CEO of ACCSES, I am honored to serve such a great network of disability advocates who are passionate about helping people with disabilities live to their full potential; believing in their capabilities, working hard to achieve personal and career goals and celebrating their successes. Collectively, ACCSES and its partners work hard to affect national policies and legislation, allowing the Voice of Disability Providers to be heard at the highest levels, on Capitol Hill, in the White House and throughout the Executive Agencies.

I extend a warm invitation to you and your organization to join this partnership and become a member of the ACCSES family. Join this advocacy initiative and become one of the most impactful voices to represent the disability community.

To learn more about ACCSES membership, please contact Cecile Spence, Communications, Events and Membership Director, at cecile.accses@verizon.net

Sincerely,

John Kemp

Health care reform details begin to emerge
June 29, 2009, Washington Business Journal

Employers would have to pick up at least 72.5 percent of the cost of health insurance premiums for full-time employees under the health care reform bill being considered by the House.

They also would be required to pick up at least some of the tab for insuring part-time employees.

Businesses that don't provide this minimum level of coverage would be required to pay the federal government a fee based on 8 percent of their payroll. Small businesses under a yet-to-be-determined threshold would be exempted from this "play or pay" requirement.
